Thame United vs Flackwell Heath Match Preview 19 April

Martin Pacetti18 Apr - 07:52

Another big game in the battle for play places

Thame United welcome Flackwell Heath to The ASM Stadium in the Pitching In Southern League Central Division One tie, It’s third vs fourth with the teams separated by three points but with Flackwell having a far superior goal difference and having played a game less. There are still many permutations of how the play off places will look come 5pm on the 26 April. What we do know is that Real Bedford are champions and Berkhamstead are in the play offs and almost certain to finish in second place. That leaves four teams battling it out for the remaining three play off spots, with Barton Rovers in fifth place on the same points as Thame with the same goal difference but behind on goals scored, and Hadley just out side the play offs three points behind. All the teams in the top six have played thirty seven games, with Thame having played a game more, with the last game a home tie against Real Bedford. So the odds looked stacked against the Oxfordshire side, but footballs a funny old game and anything can happen. Since our last home game, a 2 - 0 victory against Enfield we have had three away trips, a very good win at Leighton Town which ended their nine match winning run, then a disappointing defeat at Northwood FC, against a far better side that our previous encounter this season and on Saturday we beat Livestock Green with a Lewis Thorne goal. Flackwell Heath have had a fantastic season after being promoted to step four for the first time, they have continued to be in and around the play off spots all season and will almost certainly be in one of the semi finals. Flack are on a good run of form winning 5 and drawing one of their last six games, and have former Thame player Wiktor Makowski in their ranks who had been on fire this season scoring 29 league goals. The two teams met back in November in a midweek game with Flackwell coming out on top 2 - 0, so Thame will be looking to put that result behind them and will be hoping to record their first win of the season agains a side above them.
