Thame United Comfortably through to the next round of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup

Thame United 9 - 1 Adderbury Park

Thame United kicked off the defence of the Oxfordshire Senior Cup, when they welcomed Adderbury park from the Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division to the ASM Stadium.

Manager Ben Williams had made a number of changes to the team, with Fin Murray and Leo Galpin still out through injury also missing were captain Mark Riddick and striker Tom McElroy. There was a return to the starting eleven for Rocko Tamplin and Ollie Hogg who captained the side. On the bench there were two debutants Ashley Moakes and Charlie Stow who have been playing for the reserve side this season.

Thame started the game kicking from right to left, and wasn’t long before the front four of Curtis Brown, Rocko Tamplin, Daniel Brayden and Greg Hackett where getting joy against the Adderbury defence and created a number of chances early on.

But the constant press finally paid off on 17 minutes with the opening goal coming from a neat finish from Curtis Brown, Curtis was again on the score sheet on 28 minutes this time bundling the ball over the line after Adderbury failed to clear the ball. Four minutes later Rocko Tamplin was on the score sheet tapping in from close range, then almost immediately Greg Hacket with one of his trade mark runs cutting inside driving into the penalty area and finishing. The Thame keeper Crowther was a spectator in the first half with very little to do. The first half ended with the home side comfortably in front, but the Addebury keeper had done well to save a number of attempts.

The second half got under way with the visitors coming out of the blocks in a determined mood and it was long before their positive play had been rewarded with a goal on 51 minutes, a close range effort beat keeper Cowther at the near post.

Thame made a triple substitution on 65 minutes with Brown, Hackett, and Alexander being replaced by Jefferson Louis and debuts for Ashley Moakes and Charlie Stow.

As Thame pressed forward the Adderbury side were starting to tire but credit to the visitors they kept battling and it was until the 78 minute that Thame got there fifth, a cross over the top of the keeper found Jefferson Louis unmarked to head in. From that point the visitors heads dropped and Thame scored another four goals in 12 minutes, first Rocko Tamplin got his second on 83 minutes, Charlie Stow scored on his debut after good work from Brayden Daniel to set up the chance, Jefferson Louis got his second converted from the penalty spot after being brought down, then finally Jack Tutton got on the score sheet, picking the ball up just inside the opposition half and running in on goal, to place the ball pass the keeper. The referee played a couple of minutes of added time and blew for full time with Thame running out winners 9 - 1.

Thame have a weekend off and now move on to Flackwell Heath were they play their rearranged fixture on Tuesday 19 November 19.45 kick off.
