A day to forget for Thame United

Thame United were back in league action action when they travelled to face Real Bedford in the Pitching In Southern League Central Division One, the first time these two clubs had met, and it didnt go well for the visitors. Manager Ben Williams made two changes to the team that faced Uxbridge in the FA Trophy with Fabian Garcia and Brayden Daniels coming in for Greg Hacket and Jack Tutton.

Thame started strongly had were pressing the home side high up the pitch, which were causing some problems for the home side team that liked to play out from the back, Thame had won a couple of corners and Tom McElroy had the ball in the net but was flagged offside, Against the run of play Bedford took the lead from a corner, and a free header, Thame were two down a few minutes later a cross into the box was met by a Bedford player to divert the ball past Keeper Crowther, on 27 minutes it was three this time a break down the right into the box was converted. After a bright start three attacks had seen three goals for the home side. Thame managed to steady the ship and hold out until half time to stay 3 - 0 down.

The second half began and within minutes Thame had a goal back, a break on the right from Alexander, and a cross found McElroy at the back post to tap in. Thame made three subs on 58 minutes to try and get back into the game with Lucey, Garcia and Galpin being replace with Hackett, Loius and Brown. But with Thame pushing for Bedford found it easy to break and expose the visitors, The home side scored two in two minutes on 61 and 63 minutes, Tutton replace Daniels but the goals didnt stop there a wicked deflection completely wrong footed keeper Crowther for the home sides sixth, before McElroy pulled one back with a 40 yard strike over the keeper but it hadn’t finished there 75 minutes Bedford got their seventh and it got worse for Thame with Tutton shown a straight red card for a dangerous tackle on 87 minutes. There was virtually no added time as the referee blow, a day to forget for the Red Kites and it will be important to bounce back next weekend. Final score Bedford 7 - 2 Thame United.
